Situated just off of Melrose Ave in West Hollywood, Sur attracts exactly the crowd you would expect from this area: the young and trendy and, of course, celebrities. Inside you’ll find a cozy respite from the bustling streets outside. The stunning dining room is eclectically adorned, mixing romantic French touches like dazzling chandeliers and long, dramatic curtains with statues of Hindu gods and lots of dripping candles. The menu offers contemporary American dishes inspired by classic Mediterranean cuisine such as Taboulé Couscous with Ahi Tuna or Crab Gorgonzola Risotto, which can be accompanied with a glass off the extensive wine list or their popular Red or White Sangria.

I was VERY dissapointed in this restaurant. I have been wanting to try SUR for several years and finally chose it for an important dinner entertaining a guest in the restaurant and hotel industry for out of the country. Walking in, the place was gorgeous- the decor and ambiance is perfect. Unfortunately, aside from the great vibe and good music, everything else was a let down. The service was particularly bad... and it wasn't just OUR waiter b/c we actually had dealings with 2 other staff member s who were equally as disinterested and clueless as our waiter was. we were joking that he must've been high, he was so out of it. The first thing he did while we ordered and asked his advice b/w two different risotto dishes, was reply that, "honestly, I don't like any of the risotto here. It's not good- when people order it they usually push it away and don't eat it." This restaurant BOASTS there risotto and it was one of the reasons I chose it. The menu is all over the place. Thh apps and salads were entirely lackluster, and by the time we had entrees we weren't expecting much, so we weren't surprised when they weren't good. It really is a shame- this place has many elements working for it (location, vibe, atmospere, decor, etc...) but the menu and the food and service were not only dissapointing but embarassing.
